Title: Impact parameters analysis on damping effect of tuned mass damper
Abstract: A finite element model of a pedestrian bridge was established. The influence factors on damping effect of tuned mass damper( TMD) was analyzed,the parameters included the mass ratio,the damping ratio and the frequency of TMD,the frequency of external excitation,the main structural damping ratio,etc. The results showed that the bigger mass ratio of the TMD,damping effect was better;the damping effect was so sensitive to frequency that the acceleration increased more than 110% comparing with that of optimal parameters when the frequency deviated 10% from the optimal. When TMD damping ratio deviated from the optimum damping,high damping was easier to get the better effect of vibration control than lower damping. The change of external excitation frequency did not affect the vibration control effect of footbridge under TMD; higher main structural damping reduced the damping effect of TMD.
