Title: Issues related to design of long-distance CO_2 pipeline
Abstract: CO2 pipelining will present different phases under different temperature and pressure of pipeline, which makes CO2 pipelines quite different from oil and gas pipelines. From a CO2 pipeline design point of view, this paper analyzes relevant techniques of CO2 pipeline system, including physical properties and phase of CO2 flow, pipeline hydraulic and thermal calculations, process system of the stations and the equipment selected, and so on. It is concluded from this study that phase control is an important part of the design of CO2 pipelines; the process system of pump stations for CO2 pipeline should incorporate dehydration process according to the water content of CO2, and the dehydration process and CO2compression process should be combined to form a system; the transportation devices of CO2 pipeline, such as compressors, delivery pumps, dehydration units and venting systems, have its particularities, and should be selected and designed according to the characteristics of CO2 pipelines. The conclusions can provide a reference for the design and construction of long-distance CO2 pipelines.(6 Figures, 1 Table, 7 References)
