Title: The Formation and Classification of Cultural Connotation of English and Chinese Vocabularies
Abstract: The study of cultural connotative meaning of words is one of the main concerns of cultural linguistics. As both English and Chinese have large vocabularies and long cultural histories, they are taken as examples to show the formation of connotative meaning of words from the point of view of psychological culture, customary culture and restrictive factors of appraisement. The vocabularies will be analyzed and classified according to their referential meaning and functional characteristics.
