Materials an...Objective To investigate the possible relation of the anti-atherosclerosis efficacy of macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) with its protection of monocytes from oxidative injury. Materials and Methods The effect of L929 cell-conditioned medium (L929-CM) containing M-CSF on U937 cells incubated with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tbOOH) was Investigated by electrophoresis and DNA fragmentation determination methods. Results It was shown that tbOOH could induce DNA fragmentation in U937 cells, and the proportion of cells with DNA fragmentation increased as the incubation pened prolonged, L929-CM could alleviate DNA fragmentation injury to U937 cells caused by tbOOH. Conclusion M-CSF could protect monocytes from oxidative injury.Read More
