Title: An Investigation on the Mental Health Status of the Students at Fudan University
Abstract: In 2004, an investigation on the mental health status of the students at Fudan university was made by the Fudan Mental Health Center. It found that:(1)although 20% students felt stressed, the general status of most students tended to be normal;(2)stress came from worries about their development and other life events;(3)counseling had not yet been accepted by all students;(4)students tended to cope threats with positive coping strategies;(5)most students could get social support from friends, relatives or counselors;(6)students' personality was positively related to their mental health status and (7)students' mental health status was predicted by their social support, coping strategies and personality. On this condition, what need to be done is to(1)develop more programs to promote the awareness of mental health among students;(2)give more courses on mental health;(3)train more volunteers;(4)to some extent, modify students' personality factors;(5)lessen stressors sources;(6)enrich campus activities and (7) enlarge counseling service of the Mental Health Center.
