Title: Effects of N Application Rates on Yield and Nutrient Uptake of Maize
Abstract: 【Objective】The project aims to evaluate the yield and nutrient uptake of maize under different N fertilizer application rates with a field experiment in years of 2011 and 2012. 【Method】The six N application rates were set as 0,225,300,375,450 and 600 kg / hm2,numbered as N0,N225,N300,N375,N450and N600,respectively. 【Result】Results showed that the growth of maize was promoted by N application. The dry matter weight of maize under treatments of N375,N450and N600was significantly higher than that under N300, N225and N0treatments,but there were no significant differences among N375,N450and N600treatments. The total N accumulation and N distribution proportions in leaf and grain of maize plant were increased with N application rate increased, but there were no significant differences when N application rate was higher than 450 kg / hm2. The P uptake of maize was also enhanced by N application, but total P accumulation was reduced when N application rate was higher than 375 kg / hm2. Nitrogen fertilizer application could significantly increase maize yield, but the yield of maize was not been significantly increased when N application rate was higher than 300 kg / hm2. 【Conclusion】The N application rate 300 kg / hm2is the optimum to the nutrient uptake and yield of maize in the study area.
