Abstract:Objective To explore the prevalence of Anaplasma natural infection in goats and sheep in Zhejiang province.Methods A nested polymerase chain reaction(PCR) method was used to amplify the fragments of A...Objective To explore the prevalence of Anaplasma natural infection in goats and sheep in Zhejiang province.Methods A nested polymerase chain reaction(PCR) method was used to amplify the fragments of Anaplasma 16SrDNA in the blood specimens from goats and sheep.The positive PCR products were sequenced.The sequences of 16S rRNA gene fragments from positive samples were compared with Anaplasma sequences deposited in GenBank.Results Among the 100 goats and sheep,46(46%) showed positive,in which the positive rate was 48.9%(44/90) in goats and 20.0%(2/10) in sheep,respectively.By sequence comparison,16S rDNA fragments in 41 goats and 2 sheep were closed to those of Anaplasma bovis,and 16S rDNA fragments in 3 sheep were closed to those of Anaplasma phagocytophilum.Anaplasma infections were found in goats and sheep in different regions of Zhejiang province.There was significant difference in infection rate in these regions(χ2=15.36,P0.01).Conclusion Anaplasma infections exist in goats and sheep in Zhejiang province.Goats might serve as the important host for Anaplasma phagocytophilum,suggesting the potential risk for the domestic animals and human beings in this area.Further investigation is still needed.Read More
