Title: Clinical significance and expression of CD90 in human hepatocellular carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression characteristic of CD90 in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues, adjacent noncancerous hepatic tissues and normal hepatic tissues, and to explore the effect of CD90 in the development and progression of HCC.Methods The expression of CD90 in HCC tissues, adjacent noncancerous hepatic tissues and normal hepatic tissues adjacent hepatic hematoma were measured by immunohistochemical staining, the relationship between expression of CD90 and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. Results The immunohistochemical staining results showed that the CD90 expression in HCC tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent noncancerous hepatic tissues and in normal hepatic tissues(Z=-7.018,P=0.000 and Z=-6.234,P=0.000),in adjacent noncancerous hepatic tissues was significantly higher than that in normal hepatic tissues(Z=-2.619,P=0.009).The expression of CD90 in HCC tissues had relationship with the sizes of tumor, metastasis, clinical stages and pathological classification(Z=-2.038,P= 0.042;Z=-3.041,P=0.002;x~2=10.771,P=0.029;x~2=9.357,P=0.009).While it had no significant difference referred to the sex,age,AFP,HBsAg,HBeAg(Z=-0.816,P=0.4I4;Z=-0.618,P=0.536;Z=-1.372,P= 0.170;Z=-1.057,P=0.291;Z=-1.355,P=0.175).Conclusion The expression of CD90 in HCC tissue was upregulated, which had closely relationship with the biological behavior of HCC patients. The CD90 may be an effective indicator in evaluating the prognosis of HCC patients.
