Title: Intravesical instillation of pirarubicin for preventing postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer
Abstract: To investigate the effect of intravesical instillation of pirarubicin on the postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer. 37 postoperative cases of bladder carcinoma were treated with intravesical instillation of pirarubicin and the prophylactic effects on the recurrence were observed. The duraion of follow-up was 6~24 months. The result showed the recurrence rate was 16.2% and the side effect was negligible. It is proved that pirarubicin administaered prophylactically after TURBT or operation of bladder tumor was effective and better tolerated than other chemotherapeutic agents. [Conclusion] Postoperative intravesical installition of pirarubicin for bladder tumor has good prophylactic effects on the recurrence without heavy side effects.
