Title: Comparison on Liquefaction Performances between Loess and Sand——Soil Liquefaction and Prevention of Seismic Disaster
Abstract: Achievements have been summarized through extensive experiments, which cover the liquefaction mechanism, criteria for liquefaction, factors influencing the liquefaction, and development of pore pressure and strain of saturated loess and saturated sand and the difference in between. The results of comparison show that due to difference of liquefaction mechanism, the development of pore pressure and strain under dynamic loading of both saturated loess and saturated sand are distinctively different. The impact of same factor on liquefaction performances of two might be similar and might not be similar. Initial liquefaction could be used as criteria for liquefaction for loess and sand in dynamic tri-axial liquefaction test.
