Title: Characteristics of Sedimentary Facies in the 8th Member of Shihezi Formation of South Sulige Gas Field
Abstract: According to the regional depositional setting of Sulige gas field, facies signs of the reservoir in the 8th member of Shihezi formation, such as lithological characteristics, color of original mudstone, grain size and sedimentary structures, were comprehensively analyzed by fully utilizing the available core observation and laboratory test data of the block. It is believed that the gas reservoir in the 8th member of Shihezi formation in south Sulige gas field is braided river delta facies, which is further subdivided into several sedimentary microfacies, including braided river channel, flood swamp, underwater distributary channel, etc. The braided river channel and underwater distributary channel microfacies are favorable sedimentary facies belts in the research area and the distribution of reservoir sandbodies are decided by the direction and extended distance of channels. It provides a geological basis for reservoir prediction and further exploration and development planning of the gas reservoir in the 8th member of Shihezi formation in south Sulige gas field.
