Title: A New Method for Harmonic Analysis of Frame Structures
Abstract: A new direct method is proposed for the harmonic analysis of frame structures based on the exact finite elements recently developed.Firstly,the current available methods,mode superposition and the direct method,are summarized and compared.And then the exact shape functions and exact elements based on the general solutions of homogeneous governing equations are briefly discussed.When the element damping effect is negligible,these elements can accurately simulate harmonic vibrations of the elements.In this case,exact numerical solutions can be obtained for the harmonic analysis of frame structures using the direct method,even if each member is modeled with one element.For damped structures,the new method is still far more accurate than the existing methods.Finally,numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new method.
