Title: Study on the Effect of Odor Removal by Ozone
Abstract: Objective: To assess the effect of odor removal by ozone and the suitable ozone concentration when it axidizes and decomposes odorants. Methods: To determine the source of order emissions in fecal treatment workshops and to calculate the efficiency of order removal by ozone based on data acquired through comprehensive on-site measurements conducted in a fecal treatment workshop on the east side of Beijing. Results: Based on the reaction rate of odor elements and ozone, the time rate of the decline of odor concentration and ammonia and hydrogen sulfide are presented. The odor concentration declined rapidly after the ozonizer was started.Within the first hour the odor concentration dropped by 74% and hydrogen sulfide dropped by 29% within the first hour and 58.9% within the second hour;the total attenuation rate of ammonia reached 56.8% after two hours. The ozone concentration should be balanced at 0.03ppm when odor removal by ozone is used in fecal treatment workshops,at which state the odor concentration would be 150;the odor intensity,3 grade. Conclusion: The study offers basic insights into the mechanisms of ozone odor removal on which the design of odor removal device and the adoption of ozone odor removal by fecal treatment workshops could be based.
