Title: Singlet oxygen quantum yield of α-(8-quinolinoxy) zinc phthalocyanine
Abstract: Singlet oxygen(1O2) is widely considered to be the major cytotoxic agent for photodynamic therapy(PDT),and the 1O2 quantum yield, one of the most important parameters,is characterizing efficiency of the potential photosensitizers.Measurement of 1O2 quantum yield for the novel photosensitizer of α-(8-quinolinoxy) zinc phthalocyanine(α-(8-QLO)PcZn) in air-saturated dimethylformamide solutions was achieved by the direct measurement of their near-infrared luminescence. The main Q band for α-(8-QLO)PcZn peaks at 675 nm,and its molar extinction coefficient is 1.86×105 mol-1cm-1.The maximal 1O2 luminescence occurs at 1 280 nm,and the 1O2 quantum yield of α-(8-QLO)PcZn was determined to be 0.60±0.02.These results indicate that α-(8-QLO)PcZn is a promising photosensitizer for PDT applications.
