Title: Effects of Sowing Date,Density and Their Combination on Yield of Wheat
Abstract: Under the field experiment conditions, effects of different sowing date and density and their combinations on leaf area index and grain yield were studied using a typical semi-winter cultivar Yumai 49-198 and a typical weak-spring cultivar Yanzhan 4110 as test materials. The results showed that the leaf area index of Yumai 49-198 was significantly increased as appropriate increase of sowing amount on the case of delayed sowing. The yield of Yumai 49-198 was increased by 20.73% when sowed on October 5 and by 13.22% with sowing density of 2.7 million per ha.As to Yanzhan 4110,the increase of leaf area index was not obvious as appropriate increase of sowing amount on the case of delayed sowing. The yield of Yanzhan 4110 was increased by 7.01% when sowed on October 19 and by 13.93% with sowing density of 1.5 million per ha.Analysis of the interaction of sowing date and density showed that a higher yield would be gotten when sowed on October 5 with density of 1.95 million for Yumai 49-198 and when sowed on October 19 with density of 2.25 million for Yanzhan 4110.Therefore,an appropriate choice of sowing date and density should be made according to the characteristics of winter and spring wheat to obtain a higher yield in actual agricultural production.
