Taking CO oxidation as a probe reaction, effects of temperature, amount of Co, calcination temperature on the catalytic activity for CO oxidation have been investigated. The T100 (CO complete conversion temperature) of 10% Co/γ\|Al\-2O\-3 catalyst calcined at 400 ℃was 90 ℃. These catalysts have been characterized by means of XRD, XPS and TPR techniques to verify the species present in the catalysts. The results of XRD and XPS showed that Co\-3O\-4 phase in Co/γ\|Al\-2O\-3 catalysts was the main active phase for CO oxidation. Co particles size and reaction activities are dependent on preparation method .TPR profiles revealed that the reduction peak of the samples prepared by deposition\|precipitation shifted to the low temperature, and it resulted in that the reduction of Co species is easier.
