Title: Clinical Observation of Preoperative Intestinal Preparation Using Mannitol Administrated at Different Times
Abstract: To observe the clinical effect of mannitol administrated orally at different times in preop-erative intestinal preparation, 60 patients were divided randomly into two groups. The patients of experiment group(EG) were orally administrated with 20% mannitol solution 250ml after lunch, and those of control group(CG) were orally administrated with the same mannitol solution after supper. After administration, the first defecation time, whole defecation time, defecation times, inertia and fatigue, effect of clearing the bowelsCobserved in the operation) and the recovery time of bowel peristalsis were observed. The result showed that there was no significant difference between EG and CG except that the number of patients who felt inertia and fatigue in CG was significantly larger than that in EG( P 0. 05). These findings indicate that for patients who are scheduled to undergo hepatobiliary surgery, preoperative intestinal preparation with mannitol administrated just after lunch is feasible.
