Title: Evaluation on the Adaptability of Several Overseas Cold season Turfgrass in Chendu of China
Abstract: The adaptation studies on 26 varieties of turfgrass from abroad were carried out in Chendu for 3 years. The result shows: 11 varieties of Tall Fescue (Festuca arundinacea), 2 varieties of White Clover (Trifolium repens) and 2 varieties of Bentgrass (Agrostis) possess better adaptability and resistance than other varieties. In Tall Fescue, Barfa and Vegas are the best varieties, in Bentgrass, Prominent is the best and in White Clover, Tahara is the best. The leaf tips of Tall Fescue will turn yellow and red spot disease will appear on some varieties of this grass in summer. 11 varieties with thin leaves such as Red Fescue, Fescue and Rough Fescue have poor heat resistance and their over summering rates are less than 50%. These varieties are basically not adaptable to this environment, but their performance in winter and spring are quite good, they are the ideal grass to reseed the warm-season turf.
