Title: Foreign Bodies in the Airway:A Ten-year Retrospective Case Study
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the patients suffered from foreign bodies in the airway during the past decade.Method:A retrospective analysis was carried out on 550 cases with foreign bodies in the airway admitted to our department between January of 1988 and December of 1997.Result:Of 550 cases there were 472 cases under 3-year old.Nuts were predominated among the foreign bodies.Foreign bodies were found in the right bronchus in 208 cases(37 82%),in the trachea in 186 patients(33 82%),in the left bronchus in 102 cases(18 55%).Three-hundred seventy-four patients(68%)lived in the countryside.Conclusion:Foreign bodies in the airway could be avoided if all the people knew its danger.
