Title: Clinical evaluation of domestic azithromycin injection in the treatment of bacterial infection
Abstract: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of azithromycin injection compared with erythromycin in the treatment ofacute bacterial infections. Methods A total of 40 patients were enrolled in this study. 15 cases of respiratory infections treated with azithromycin were compared with 15 cases treated with erythromycin. 10 cases of other tissue infections were treated with azithromycin. Drugs were administered intravenously once a day (for azithromycin)or twice a day (for erythromycih)for 5-7 days, at a daily dose of 0. 5 g of azithromycin or 1.0g of erythromycin. Results The overall clinical efficacy rates of azithromycin was 96% (24/25). The randomized comparative evaluation showed that the clinical efficacy rate of azithromycin(93. 3%)was higher than that of erythromycin(53. 3%),P0. 05,and the bacterialogical clearance rate for azithromycin(100%) was higher than that for erythromycin(60%), P 0. 05. The incidence of adverse drug reactions for azithromycin (12%) was lower than that for ery-thromycin(40%) ,P0. 05. Comclusion Azithromycin injection is an effective and safe antibiotic for the treatment of bacterial infection.
