Abstract: Weijin and Northern and Southern Dynasties is the prosperous period of the patriarchal clan in the Chinese history. The main organizations of the clan are the feudal manor run by the literati and officialdom landlord,the refugee clique controlled by the patriarchal clan,and the armed castle commanded by the clan leader. The ideology of the clan may be summarized as follows:the patriarchal clan attach great importance to the family status ,the interest of the clan,and the filial duty;while,attach less importance to the individual,and his talent and morality. The centripetal force of the clan lies in its economy which is characterized by the clan men's living together in a family and sharing their possessions,and it advanced cultural tradition.
