Abstract: This essay aims to unveil the true identity of the narrator of A Rose for and explore its narrative point of view.Through detailed analysis,the present author concludes that the true identity of the first-person plural narrators we are a group of male contemporaries with Emily in the town and they are very likely to have been her pursuers.Moreover,the novel adopts a first-person retrospective double point-of-view.What critics often assume to be the omniscient narration is an integral part of first-person point-of-view.It is exactly this double point-of-view that helps the author reveal the narrators' ambivalence to Emily.
