Title: PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND GENETIC ANALYSIS OF RICE DWARF MUTANT del1
Abstract: One rice dwarf mutant del1(dwarf and erected leaf)was isolated from a japonica rice variety Kitaake through60Co γ-rays irradiation inducement.Its characteristic of physiology,ultrastructure and genetic analysis were investigated.The results showed that del1 exhibited dwarf,dark green and erected leaves,and sterility.the dwarf phenotype was controlled by a single recessive nuclear gene.TEM analysis showed the ultrestructure of mutant del1 mesophyll cell was normal,but significant smaller than that of wild type.The mutant del1 was sensitive to GA3,and insensitive to eBR in terms of elongation of shoots.The protective enzyme activity of mutant leaf decreased more quickly than that of wild type.These results laid a basis for cloning and functional analysis of the dwarf gene.
