Title: A Study of Reliability-Validity Relationship in the College English Achievement Test
Abstract: Reliability and validity are two major concepts of the second testing theories,the balance of which contributes to improving the quality of College English test.This paper is intended to make an analysis of the validity and reliability of a College English final achievement test based on the second testing theories.Using the software developed by Guangdong University of Foreign Study,the paper discovers that in the current context of College English achievement test,high reliability comes with the price of low validity,which causes great damage to test qualities.The keys to the balance of reliability and validity come down to clear test objectives and flexible test methods.
