Title: Comparison of intraocular pressures at different parts of eyeballs by Tono-Pen applanation tonometer
Abstract: Aim: To explore the difference in intraocular pressure(IOP) on different part of the eye ball measured by Tono-Pen applanation tonometer. Methods: IOP on central cornea, limbus and sclera of 61 cases(99 eyes) were measured by Tono-Pen applanation tonometer. Results: IOP on central cornea, limbus and sclera were (2.52±0.74) kPa, ( 2.63± 0.79) kPa, (4.46±1.49) kPa,respectively. There was no statistical difference between the IOP on central cornea and the limbus(P0.05). IOP on sclera was higher than that on corneal center, and they were positively correlated ( r= 0.542, P=0.000). The linear equation was Y=1.824+0.104X(X≤2.793 kPa) and Y=1.493+0.359(X 2.793 kPa) (Y:IOP on centralcornea;X:IOP on sclera). Conclusion: IOP on sclera measured by Tono-Pen is reliable;IOP measured by Tono-Pen at any part of cornea is accurate.
