Title: Effect of transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation on embryo quality and pregnancy outcome in low ovarian reaction patients
Abstract: Objectives: To evaluate the effect of transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation(TEAS) on pregnancy outcome and embryo quality in low ovarian reaction patients treated with in-vitro-fertilization(IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI).Methods: A total of 92 patients with low ovarian reaction were randomly allocated to two groups, the control group(n=45) and the treatment group(n=47).They were all given short-term protocol to induce ovulation. The control group received no treatment while the treatment group received two months' treatment with transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation(TEAS) before controlled ovulation hyper-stimulation(COH).Basic endocrine index were compared before and after the treatment. The number of retrieval oocytes, fertilization rate, reproductive outcome were compared between the two groups. Results: 1.The number of retrieval oocytes in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.05).2.The endometrial thickness in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group on the day of HCG(P0.05).3.The good quality embryos rate in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group(P0.05).4.The clinical pregnancy rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.05),and the abortion rate in treatment group was lower than that in the control group according to the follow ups after pregnancy(P0.05).5.There was significant difference between the two groups in E2 level(P0.05).Conclusions: It is necessary for patients with low ovarian reaction to undergo in-vitro-fertilization(IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) to receive TEAS therapy. It can improve clinical pregnant rate by improving ovarian local microenvironment and endocrine function.
