Title: MORPHOGENESIS AND PLANT REGENERATION IN LEAF EXPLANTS AND CALLUS TISSUES OF CAPRARIA BIFLORA CULTURED IN VITRO
Abstract: Leaf explants of Capraria biflora L. were cultured in vitro on MS basal medium with several combinations of growth regulators, under light or in the dark. The presence of 2,4-D in the medium induces only callus, inhibiting organogenesis. Neoformation of vegetative buds and shoots occurred in media with low auxin (IAA, 0.57 μM or NAA, 0.54 μM) plus kinetin (4.60 μM), under light. Calluses produced in medium with 5.71 μM IAA can be subcultured several times and then forms many shoots when transferred to medium with low auxin and high kinetin (9.30 μ Mo r BAP 8.90 μM). Shoots were isolated and rooted in medium without growth regulators or with IBA (0.49 μM) or NAA (0.54 μM), and developed into whole plants. Structural aspects of organogenesis were also studied.
