Title: SSR Analysis of the Genetic Diversity of Cotton Cultivars/Lines
Abstract: Twenty-nine cotton accessions from 4 cultivated species(Gossypium hirsutum,G.barbadense,G.arboretum and G.herbaceum) were selected as the experiment materials and their genotypes were detected with 67 SSR polymorphic markers anchored on the 26 cotton chromosomes.A total of 341 allelic variations were obtained, and each primer pair produced 2 to 9 loci,or 5.1 loci/primer on the average. The genetic similarity coefficient of the 29 accessions ranged from 0.53 to 0.97,with an average of 0.73.When coefficient was at 0.78,all the accessions were clustered into 3 groups,G.hirsutum,G.barbadense,and G.arboreum-G.herbaceum.When coefficient was at 0.84,the 22 G.hirsutum cultivars/lines were clustered into 7 sub-groups,and G.arboretum and G.herbaceum were clustered into two different groups. The above results showed that the intra-specific genetic diversity is low in cultivated cotton species, and introgression breeding is an effective approach to increase the genetic diversity of G.hirsutum.
