Title: Political and Ideological Interaction Between Tokyo and Shanghai in the Early 20~(th) Century
Abstract: In the early 20th century when China was plunged into a severe national crisis, many Chinese people pursued fur- ther studies in Japan with the purpose of seeking a proper approach to prosperous development of China.Shanghai was the depar- ting place where people in the south of China started their journey to Japan, whereas Tokyo was the place where Chinese students concentrated. The constant flow of Chinese students between Shanghai and Tokyo promoted the dissemination of democratic revo- lutionary ideas among the Chinese nation, thus speeding up the course of history of the Chinese revolution.Political and ideolog- ical interaction between Tokyo and Shanghai in the early 20th century showed clearly that the two great cities of Tokyo and Shang- hai served as headstreams of ideological motive power of the national democratic revolution in contemporary China. Therefore,it is absolutely necessary to pay attention to these two cities when we research into the history of the Revolution of 1911.
