Title: The Power of Tragedy Art—— A Comparative Study on Nietzsche and Patrick White's Tragic Thoughts
Abstract: Tragedy has long been a great concern for researchers home and abroad due to its power to stimulate philosophical and aesthetic ideas.This essay is devoted to facilitate a better understanding on both Nietzsche and Patrick White's views on tragedy,both of which are considered to be unique and outstanding in the world's literature.As has been seen from the comparison,the similarity that lies in the thoughts of the two great thinkers is a kind of positive attitude towards life,namely,tragedy can be a tool to filter people's soul and encourage a meaningful life.However,the two great thinkers choose entirely different ways to show the power of tragedy.Nietzsche demonstrates the power of tragedy through Apollonian and Dionysian spirit while Patrick White defines the charm of tragedy through Christian doctrine on life and death.
