Abstract:Light as one of the important environmental factors is significant to the growth and the physiological reactivity of many organisms including filamentous fungi.This paper indicates that the red light ...Light as one of the important environmental factors is significant to the growth and the physiological reactivity of many organisms including filamentous fungi.This paper indicates that the red light has an apparent effect on the morphology of Monascus M10 cultured on plates;Besides in liquid fermentation environment,red light stimulates the growth of cell and makes Monascus M10 enter into the period of pigment synthesis ahead of that in the darkness culture condition.Meanwhile,no obvious biomass difference is observed between the culture conditions with or without red light.In conclusion,red light can increase the production of pigment and decrease the production of citrinin of Monascus M10.Read More
