Title: Flocculation Ability of Water Dispersion of Amphoteric Polyacrylamide
Abstract: Self-made amphoteric polyacrylamide(AmPAM) dispersion was used as flocculant to treat city wastewater. The effects of polymer dosage, ionic degree of polymer, wastewater's pH value and NaCl concentration of AmPAM's samples were investigated according to the volume of the floc and the transmittance of the supernate. The flocculation ability of AmPAM was compared with that of ionic polyacrylamide. It was found that AmPAM had better flocculation ability than CPAM and APAM.The optical AmPAM dosage was 3.0 mg·L-1.AmPAM's flocculation ability was effected by the content of ionic groups.AmPAM with more ionic groups had better flocculation ability. However, extra ionic group had negative effects.AmPAM could be used in a wide range of pH value.AmPAM should be diluted by 1% NaCl solution. With NaCl concentration lower than it,AmPAM could not dissolve well.Higher concentration had not further effect.
