Title: The Records of Hakka Dialect in 16th Century
Abstract: Some characteristics of Rhyme Qi pronounced as Hui,Rhyme Geng as Yang and non-distinction of Yang between Wang are recorded and compared with Wu Dialect and Mandarin Chinese in Zhengde Xingning Zhi by Zhu Yunming in Ming Dynasty. While, some frequently-used words are preserved in Jiajing Xingning Xianzhi compiled by Huang Guokui and Sheng Ji.Compared with modern Hakka dialect,we can undoubtedly draw the conclusion that the Xingning vernacular of 16th century has already been a mature Hakka dialect.Of the existing chorographic literature at present,it is the earliest description of Hakka dialect, which has important historical documentary value.
