Title: An Analysis of the Market Structure for the Chinese Agriculture
Abstract: Agriculture is usually considered a typical case of perfect competitive market. This paper analyzes the market structure for the Chinese agriculture through modern theories of industrial organizations from the perspectives of market concentration, operating size of farmers, entry and exit barriers, and product differentiation. It shows that there are, at present, a number of factors restricting competition in the market structure for the Chinese agriculture, which is an important element impeding the improvement of the Chinese agricultural competitiveness. Therefore, constructing a rational agricultural market structure is an important means of increasing the Chinese agricultural competitiveness.
