Abstract: The no-reflow phenomenon after reperfusion in patients with acute myocardial infarction is an independent predictor of a poor prognosis. In recent years various therapeutic strategies have been used to deal with no-reflow such as: plaque removal and distal protection devices,vasodilators,anti-platelet agents, improving endothelial function, leukocyte adhesion inhibition, and reperfusion injury reduction. The no-reflow phenomenon, however, has not been fully resolved. This review is focused on the definition and recent advances on the mechanism of,and the management of,the no-reflow phenomenon.
