Title: Research on control measures of transverse joint deformation of the Xiaowan Arch Dam under the action of strong earthquakes
Abstract: On the basis of the existing research results and taking the Xiaowan Arch Dam with the height of 292 m, the first highest arch dam in the world, as the example, the author studies the control measures of transverse joint reinforcement and the principles and analysis methods of transverse joint deformation control for high arch dam under the action of strong earthquake Subsequently a new nonlinear constitute of reinforced joint elements is constructed to consider the cohesion and sliding behaviors between steels and surrounding concrete, and the corresponding nonlinear numerical model is developed based on the existing primary program The application of this newly presented model in Xiaowan arch dam demonstrates the feasibility and validity of joint reinforcements Some proposals suggested in this paper about the layout of steels across transverse joints can be well referenced in engineering designs
