Title: The optimal analgesic concentration of epidural ropivacaine in labor
Abstract: Objective To investigate the optimal analgesic concentration of epidural ropivacaine in laˉbor. Methods One hundred eighty parturients at labor were randomly divided into6groups with30cases each.0.05%,0.075%,0.1%,0.15%and0.2%ropivacaine with1μg/ml fentanyl was given for epidural block in groups A,B,C,D and E and the loading dose was4~10ml/h.Group F was the control group. The pain visual analogue scale(VAS)was obtained before and after epidural block.Degree of motor block on modified Bromage score(MBS)was measured at the same intervals. The duration of labor, mode of delivery and Apgar score were recorded at each labor process. Results The VAS of group A was lower than that of group B,C,D and E.Two parturients of group D and3of group E got MBS2~3,and the others got MBS0~1.The first stage of labor in group F was longer than those in groups A,B,C,D and E.There were no differences in the second stage of labor, mode of delivery and Apgar score among6groups.Conclusion0.05%~0.2%epidural ropivacaine for labor analgesia is effective, which shorten the first stage of labor, and has no effect on the neonate score.But0.075%~0.1%ropivacaine provides less motor block,so it is more suitable for analgesic in labor.
