Abstract: Humanism, the guiding thought of the Renaissance, undoubtedly produced deep effects on the European ideology and culture. Although the historic study of the time was carried out following the banner of reviving the classical culture and fighting against the Christian theology, the humanist historians neither simply inherited the tradition of classical history nor merely denied all the Christian history. On the contrary, they developed a humanist historical viewpoint characteristic of the time on the basis of them.
