Title: The research progress in the chemokine SDF-1 and the chemokine receptor CXCR4
Abstract: The chemokine SDF-1(stromal cell-derived factor-1) and its receptor CXC chemokine receptor 4 belong to the CXC chemokines and the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors respectively. The research on their functions have shown that the SDF-1/CXCR4 axis plays important roles in a number of biological processes, such as immune response, in?ammation, embryonic development, organogenesis, cancer, HIV disease and WHIM syndrome. And then SDF-1 and CXCR4 have become the hot topic of the current biomedical research. On this study we review the current progress on SDF-1 and CXCR4 in structure, signal transduction and biological significance.
