Abstract: The analysis of the state feedback and output feedback of a non-minimum-phase system shows that optimal design makes state feedback quite robust. Based on this optimal design, an observer is then added to form an output feedback. The output feedback controller formed by the state observer is given. Analyses indi- cate that the system in this case is not robust. It is pointed out that in output feedback the plant is represented by the input-output description, and the non-minimum-phase property of the transfer function is the main reason for the lost robustness.
