Abstract:Objective:To est ablish the range of Heidelberg retina tomograph(HRT)optic disc parameters and define the factors that affect the HRT optic disc parameters in normal subjects.Methods:Optic nerve head ...Objective:To est ablish the range of Heidelberg retina tomograph(HRT)optic disc parameters and define the factors that affect the HRT optic disc parameters in normal subjects.Methods:Optic nerve head parameters of 102 normal subjects(132 eyes) were measured with HRT,including optic disc area,cup area,cup volume,rim area,rim volume,cup shape,mean retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and RNFL cross section area,horizontal C/D,and vertical C/D.The range of the optic disc parameters were defined in normal subjects.The relation between optic disc area and other optic nerve head parameters by liner regression was derived from the normal subjects.Results:Statistically significant difference in optic nerve head parameters was not found between right and left eyes,male and female (P0 05,t test).Significant negative correlations were found between age and RNFL thickness and retinal nerve fiber layer cross section area(r=-0 234,-0 235,P0 05).There was no significant correlation between age and other optic nerve head parameters.There were statistically significant liner correlations between optic disc area and other optic nerve head parameter except rim volume and maximum cup depth.Conclusion:In normal subjects,HRT can measure optic disc parameters but which have some differences.Optic area does not affect rim volume.It is a good parameter for differentiating normal eye and early glaucoma.Read More
