Title: THE APPLICATION OF CLUSTER ANALYSIS TO THE HEAVY MINERALS IN THE EAST CHINA SEA
Abstract: Cluster analysis is a method of multivariate analysis,by which we have studied the relationship between heavy minerals in the surface sediments of the East China Sea and obtained a clear and objective classification.According to the results of cluster analysis, four major types of mineral assemblage in the sediments of the East China Sea and their distributions are as follows.a.Mica-Chlorite-Amphibole-Epidote,distributed mainly over the near-shore.b.Augite-Magnetite-Amphibole-Epidote,over Okinawa trough.c.Limenite-Zireon-Amphibole-Epidote,off the Changjiang River Mouth.d.Amphibole-Epidote-Limenite-Garnet,over the middle-outer continental shelf of the East China Sea.
