Title: THE RESEARCH DIRECTION CHANGES OF THE SUB-REGIONAL COOPERATION AND RE-EXAMINE OF IT
Abstract: Sub-regional cooperation,a new way of cooperation,emerged in East Asia in late 1980s and early 1990s.The paper reviews previous researches.The authors point out that in past 20 years,sub-regional cooperative research has experienced three changes in research direction.The first is researches of economic which focus on feasibility and necessity of economic but not on economic theory.The second is researches of non-economic effects of economic including sub-regional economic and sustainable development,sub-regional economic and ecological environment and sub-regional economic and regional social,economic,political.The third is researches of non-economic factors and non-economic areas of collaboration of cooperation.Non-economic factors include impact of large countries,border security,non-traditional security and international political pattern.Non-economic includes security cooperation,environmental and education cooperation.The changes of research direction reflect practical significance and value of cooperative research.This paper also discusses some basic issues of including definition,characteristics,classification and interaction,theoretical explanations of regional and balance of cooperation.The authors conclude that can be divided into economic and non-economic cooperation.There are four characteristics of including the content of cooperation,openness and complexity of cooperation,diverse goals and non-compliance of cooperation and low-level mechanisms and diversity of cooperation.Finally,from perspective of game theory,the authors explore balance of cooperation,and explain reasons why different is in different levels of development.
