Title: Clinical observation of the intensity modulated radiation therapy concurrent with chemotherapy for recurrent cervical cancer
Abstract: Objective:To observe the efficacy and toxicities of intensity modulated radiation therapy(IMRT)concurrent with chemotherapy for recurrent cervical cancer. Methods:Fifty four patients with recurrent cervical cancer were dividea into 2 groups:grouped observation group(radiotherapy concurrent with chemotherapy)consisted of 28 patients, receiving IMRT concurrent with chemotherapy of cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil,two cycles at least(cisplatin 20mg/m2 d1-d5,5-Fu 500mg/m2 d1-d5).Control group consisted of 26 patients, treated only with IMRT.All patients received radiotherapy using 6MV-x ray, with 5-7 yields, with total dose of 45-50 GY.Results:The overall response rate was higher in observation group(92.8%)than in control group(76.9%).There was a significant difference in two groups about the total effective rate(P0.05).The frequency of grade Ⅲ acute bone marrow inhibition was 7.1 %,gradeⅢ acute disgusting was 3.6 %,and grade Ⅲ acute diarrhoea was 7.1 %,which could be alleviated. No patient suffered more than grade Ⅲ toxicities in control group. The acute toxicity was significantly different(P0.05)in two groups. There was no significant difference between two groups about the one-year survival rate(P0.05).Conclusion:IMRT concurrent with chemotherapy can improve the early outcome of the recurrent cervical cancer, toxicity of radiation is not increased.
