Title: Characterization on Fracture Toughness of Ceramic Coatings
Abstract: Due to the brittleness of ceramic materials,the application of ceramic coatings is badly influenced.Fracture toughness is a mechanics parameter reflecting material ability of resistance to crack propagation.It is difficult to measure the fracture toughness of ceramic coatings because of their brittleness and 2D characteristics.However,three parameters,critical stress field intensity factor KⅠC,critical strain energy release rate GⅠC and crack density β,can be used to characterize ceramic coating toughness.These methods are described and analyzed.
