Title: Properties and anti-inflammatory activities of superoxide dismutasemodified with low anticoagulant activity heparin
Abstract: Superoxide dismutase(SOD) was modified with low anticoagulant activity heparin(LAAH)which had been activated by CNBr,and a LAAH modified enzyme,LAAH_(CN)SOD,wasobtained.The aminohexose, hexuronic acid, sulfate group contents and the anticoagulant potencyof LAAH in LAAH_(CN)-SOD were lower than those of native LAAH,and the enzymatic activity ofLAAH_(CN)-SOD was also lower than that of unmodified SOD. The Cu Zn in SOD were partly lostin the course of modification. The experiments of anti-inflammatory effects on different inflamma-tory models, such as cotton-ball-induced inflammatory granulation in rats and the capillary per-meabilityincrease of abdominal cavity of mice induced bv acetic acid , showed that LAAH_(CN)-SODhad higher anti-inflammatory activity than both LAAH and SOD.
