Title: An Approach to Optimization of Pre-chlorination Technologyfor High-algae Water
Abstract: A discussion is made on the controlling of the reaction conditions during pre-chlorination, such as dosage of chlorine, reaction time, etc., and the combined use of pre-chlorination and powered activated carbon (PAC)when the quantity of algae and the contents of phenols in the water are excessive. It is believed that if the reaction time and the dosage of chlorine of the pre-chlorination are well controlled, the pre-chlorination will not obviously increase the quantity of carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic substances in the effluent water from water plant, and that when pre-chlorination and PAC are used in a combined way, a proper time interval should be available between the two processes to reduce the effects of chlorine on the adsorption of activated carbon.
