Title: One stage total auricle reconstruction with a Medpor framwork
Abstract: Objective To explore the histocompatility of Medpor implant and to find a new method of auricle reconstruction. Methods We improved traditional method of auricle recon-structionby Medpor framework. Firstly, the hair follicle of the postauricular flap was removed at the level of subcutaneous vas-calur net and the postauricular flap were lifted. Then the Medpor framework was fixed to the postauncular periosteum at proper level. Lastly the postauricular facial flap was lifted and was used to cover the framework strictly. Results We have successfully reconstructed 8 cases with this method since 1998. Exposed framework was found in two cases and it was cured after repair. Other cases were satisfactory in appearance. Conclusion Medpor could be a safe and reliable material for auricle reconstruction and with a satisfactory appearance.
