Title: Research on the Science Teachers' Professional Development Status and Its Countermeasures
Abstract: With a series of in-service teacher-education policies issued by Ministry of Education,promotion of teachers' professional development has become a topic issue in education studies.This paper explores the professional development of chemistry teachers in middle school in Shaanxi Province through sample surveys and interviews,and finds that teachers' professional development status in the province is basically in line with the requirements of the in-service teacher-education policies.The paper concludes: school type and years of teaching experience are the major factors in teachers' professional development;great disparities in professional knowledge and competence exist between teachers of different categories;teachers' interest in the self-learning and self-development lies more in its practical use.
