Abstract: In the late Ming Dynasty,Wang Taozhen with a literary name Tan Yangzi,daughter of Wang Xijue,a well-known scholar,declared she was a spirit and would choose the date to ascend to heaven and become immortal.It was a religious fanatical event in the southeast China for a period of time.Her father Wang Xijue and Wang Shizhen got involved in a dispute.Most of those who participated in it were famous scholars and the two Wangs' acquaintances and friends.They did their utmost to incite one against another.The reason why they did this includes many complicated elements,such as personal beliefs and emotions.Above all,it is their religious imaginations after they lose hopes in political affairs that interprets it.
